BEAVER?CITY -- Marvin F. Werner, Sr., 66, died Saturday (Aug. 5, 2006) at his home in Beaver City after a battle with cancer.
He was born July 7, 1940, at Centerlia, Ill., to step-father Robert and mother Mildred N. (Speer) Russell.
The family moved to California in 1943, where he lived in San Diego County and attended Chula Vista High School. In 1963 he moved to Illinois and married Phyllis Marr on Sept. 14, 193 at Carson City, Nev. They then moved back to San Diego, Calif., where he was a machine operator for aircraft parts. He retired due to disability in 1982. They then moved to Beaver City to be near family in May of 2004.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Beaver City.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, David and Robert; and one daughter, Debbie in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Beaver City; three sons, James A Werner, and wife, Una, Marvin F. Werner and wife, Carrie all of Beaver City, and Jeffrey A. Werner and wife, Lori of Lemon Grove, Calif.; one step-son, Daniel J. Frank of Burbank, Calif.; one step-daughter, Sandy Frank of Springfield, Ill.; one brother, John Werner and wife, Carol of Reno, Nev.; three sisters, Marilyn Nuttall and husband, Ross of Portland, Ore., Diana E. Stanley of El Cajon, Calif., and Charlene E. Austin of San Diego, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beaver City, with the Rev. Jim Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City.
Visitation is today from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
