Car show judges Joe Derauf, top, and Gabriel Sena, above, both of McCook, check out entries in the fourth annual McCook Police Department "Show-n-Shine" car show Thursday evening. Derauf visits with Bud Ham, above left, of North Platte, owner of the '92 Plymouth Laser with aliens airbrushed into wild blue graphics. Sena, and his grandson Andrew Starr, inspect the paint and wheels on the 2002 Mustang owned by Leslie Peterson of McCook. The 'Stang won best paint and graphics and first place in domestic cars. The Laser won "Best of Show," best interior and first in the sport/compact division. Winning best engine was the 1971 Chevy Nova SS owned by Brandon Brott of McCook. Division winners were: Classics/Customs: 1. Charles Schluckebier, 1967 Chevy pickup. Domestic cars: 1. Leslie Peterson; 2. Spencer Hunt, 1998 Eagle Talon. Sport/compact: 1. Bud Ham; 2. Will Fune, '01 Dodge Stratus; 3. Brian Thomas, 1989 Honda Accord. Special interest: 1. Tim Cooper, 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Pickup: 1. Kyle Conroy, 1995 Dodge Ram. Street machine: 1. Brandon Brott.
