Fredrick Richard Prell, died Wednesday (July 19, 2006) at Community Hospital in McCook, at the age of 87.
He was born Nov. 21, 1918, at Arnold, the son of the late Lovell "Bake" and Mildred (Beardsley) Prell. He grew up at Anselmo and graduated from Anselmo High School in 1938.
On Nov. 21, 1946, he married Gwen Scott at the Methodist Church in Anselmo and continued in the family business. In 1950, he joined Texaco, where he became a Petroleum Engineer, until retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church and was the Past Master in 1979 of the McCook Masonic Lodge 135 A.F. & A.M and was a Past Patrol of Eureka Chapter 86, Order of Eastern Star in 1979, 1983 and 1985. He was also a member of all York Rite Bodies in McCook and the Tehama Shrine in Hastings. He was a Past Grand Commander, Past Grand High Priest, Past Grand Illustrious Master of the Grand York Rite of Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Dean, Verne, Gale, Jim, and infants Larry and Dale Prell; two sisters, Eleanor Black and Faye Cromer.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen, of McCook; one sister, Kay Marlow of Yuma, Ariz.; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Thurman officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.
Memorial may be given in his name and friends may call Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
