DENTON, TEXAS -- Samuel John Johnson, 98, died Wednesday (July 12, 2006), at the Senior Care Center in Denton, Texas.
He was born May 20, 1908, in Norcatur, Kan. to Robert and Susannah (Nash) Johnson.
He married Velda Johnson June 3, 1926. After 60 years of marriage, Velda passed away June 1986. He married Norma Watts, Dec. 30, 1987.
He was a Rural Route Mail Carrier for the United Postal Service for 30 years and worked for the Veterans Administration for several years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Velda, and two sons, Francis and Lyn.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; a daughter-in-law, Lois Johnson of Sargent; six grandchildren; four stepdaughters, including Linda Hook of Denton, Jennifer LeFleure of Lake Dallas, Texas, Maureen Bolinger of Eaton, Ohio, and Karol Hudak of Fla.; and 14 step-grandchildren.
He will be buried at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Mulkey-Mason Jack Schmitz and Son is in charge of arrangements.
