Katina Rachel Downing of McDonald, Kan., and Brian David Horobik of Benkelman, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. Parents of the couple are Douglas Downing of McDonald and Diana Phillips of Atwood and Thomas and Bonnie Horobik of Benkelman. The bride-to-be is employed by the Village of Stratton as the Deputy Village Clerk and is studying to become a teachers aide. The prospective bridegroom is a farm hand and is earning a degree in auto tech. The couple is planning an Aug. 26, 2006, ceremony at St. John's Catholic Church in rural Beardsley, Kan.
