TRENTON -- Dortha Florence Cleveland, 96, died Saturday (June 10, 2006) in Alliance.
She was born April 13, 1910 in Trenton to Robert and Margaret (Herchfield) Sydow.
She attended School in Trenton graduating in 1926. After attending normal school in Kearney, she taught rural school until her marriage to Clyde Cleveland, a marriage that lasted for 65 years until his death in 1995.
She and Clyde lived in several towns in Nebraska and Iowa before settling in Farragut, IA., in 1942. They resided there until Clyde passed away. She then moved to Alliance, to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.
She was a long time member of the Farragut Congregational Church and Garden Club.Her life was centered onher family, she was never to busy to listen or make cookies.. Everyone loved and respected her, and had a large cirlce of firends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, one son, her parents and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Marjory and Jim Langner of Alliance; four granddaughters; aseven great-grandchildren;, four great-great grandchildren and one nephew.
Graveside services were June 16, 2006, at Farragut Cemetary in Farragut, IA. A memorial services was held in the Good Sams Towers in Alliance, June 26.
