SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Leota Ruth Cornwell, 86, died Saturday (June 17, 2006) at the Maranatha Village in Springfield, Mo.

She was born Sept, 13, 1919, at Coffeyville, Kan,, to Fred and Mary (Wilson) Wagner. She attended school in Coffeyville, Kan..

She married Dale Kenneth Eden on September 20, 1936, at Rev. Victor Greisen's home in Coffeyville. She worked in the kitchen at church camps from 1949 until the death of her husband in March of 1979. The couple lived in Elkhart, Kan., Edgemont, S.D., Bayard, Columbus, Lexington, and McCook.

She remained involved, starting and conducting "Prime-Timers" for several years.

She married Harold Cornwell in 1987, when they moved to Thedford. In Thedford, she formed a new "Prime-Timers" organization, remaining active through her entire stay in Thedford.

After the death of her second husband on Oct. 30, 1995, s she kept her residence in Thedford for another nine years, until moving to Maranatha Village, assisted-living in Springfield, on July 15, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Eden and Harold Cornwell; parents, Fred and Mary; daughter, Donna; brothers, George and Billy Wagner; sister, Betty Platte; half-brothers, Henry, Fred, Joe and Cecil Wagner and Oscar, Roy, and Elvin Baker; and half-sisters, Belle and Rose Wagner and Mary Baker.

Survivors include her son, Howard Eden of Dunseith, N.D.; step-son, Ken Cornwell of Lincoln; step-daughters, Sharon Cornwell of Omaha and Nyla Blauvelt of Casper, Wyo.; brother, James Wagner of Wichita, Kan.; son-in-law, Ivan Kloefkorn of Dickinson, N.D.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild..

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 24, 2006, 11 a.m., at the Assembly of God Church in McCook with Rev. Ron Blauvelt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
