TOPEKA, Kan. -- William H. "Bill" Meyer, 73, died June 16, 2006 at Holton Community Hospital in Holton, Kan., after losing his battle with leukemia.
He was born April 13, 1933, at Ludell, Kan., to William G and Margaret (Wolters) Meyer. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church of Ludell on April 30, 1933. He received his Christian education at Trinity Lutheran School, and was confirmed on March 30, 1947.
He was married April 8, 1961, to Sylia Michel. They lived on a farm north of Ludell, where Bill also worked in production for various oil companies. In 1989, they moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., where he was involved in property development. In 1995, they moved to Topeka, where they resided until his death.
While living in Ludell, he was chairman of the Trinity Lutheran Church Congregation, as well as treasurer and trustee. He also served on the board of directors for the Farmers State Bank and the Ludell Farmers Cooperative. He later became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Berniece Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of Topeka; a siter, Sophie Hill, and husband, Willliam of Holton; and two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Michael and wife, Cathi of Newton, Kan, Richard Michel and wife, Judy of Ludell, Kan.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Ludell.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood.
