ARAPAHOE -- Frances L. ten Bensel, 94, died Friday (June 16, 2006) at the Cambridge Hospital.
She was born April 23, 1912, to Frank and Ismay (Adams) Heinen, in Foxholm, N.D.
She attended school at Minot, N.D.,
On Aug. 29, 1928, she married Theodore W. ten Bensel, at Minot, N.D. They made their home on a farm east of Arapahoe. They farmed there for 34 years before retiring and moving into Arapahoe in 1962. After her husband's death on Feb. 3, 1972, she began working as a nurses aide at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arapahoe until 1993. In October 1995, she moved to Prairie Pines Retirement Home and in 2004, she moved to Good Samaritan Center Assisted Living.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe since 1928, United Methodist Women's Extension Country Club, and Rebekah Lodge, all of Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore; an infant daughter, Thelma Frances ten Bensel; three brothers; one sister; a grandson, David Collins; and a great-grandson, Sam Cookson.
Survivors include two sons, Larry and wife, Carolyn ten Bensel and Dean and wife Wanda ten Bensel; two daughters, Ilene Collins and Virginia Cookson and husband Vance Vroot, all of Arapahoe; a sister Eunice Lauhea of Aurora; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-granchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Michael Flury officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m.
