BENKELMAN -- William Bud "Bill" Porter, 79, died Thursday (June 15, 2006) at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, Nebraska.
He was born July 4, 1926 at Grand Island to Bud and Neva (Prouty) Porter and attended school and graduated from Grand Island High School.
He lived many places and worked at many things until he settled in California. He lived in the Los Angeles area where he worked as a nursing aide/orderly and for a florist. He returned to Nebraska to care for his sister, Kay until she died. He then moved to Trenton and then to Grandview Retirement Center in Stratton where he lived until 2004, at which time he moved to the Kenneth C. Stout Assisted Living Center at Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Glenwood and George; and two sisters, Lucile Clark and Katherine "Kay" Knetzel.
He is survived by his nephew, Charles "Bud" Clark of Hayes Center; special friends, Mary and Sandy Thompson of Stratton, Shaney Clang of North Platte, and Carl and Cindy Schneider of Luthersville, Ga.
At his request, his body was cremated and no services will be held.
