COZAD -- Dale Linke, age 68, died Tuesday (May 23, 2006) at the Cozad Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1937 at Lincoln and at the age of 9 months, was adopted by L. J. "Louie" and Hilda Lucas Linke of Eustis. He attended Houser School and the Salem Lutheran Parochial School in Frontier County. He graduated from Eustis High School in 1955. After graduation, he worked at the K-K Appliance at Gothenburg.
On Dec. 28, 1958, he married Linda Maline. He was part of a construction crew that built the Monroe Auto Plant. Throughout his lifetime, he was associated in various agricultural related businesses in work and sales. He had also been employed with Platte Valley Auto, and at the time of his death, was the manager of the Dawson County Fairgrounds at Lexington.
He was a member of the American Lutheran Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and several terms on the church council. During his lifetime, his memberships included Cozad Jaycees, Cozad Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years and past officer of the Cozad Elks Lodge. He was a 4-H Horse Club leader and a member of the Gothenburg Roping Club, Pony Express Riders and the Lexington Plum Creekers Horse Drill team. He had served on the Cozad Baseball Board. He served for 29 years on the Dawson County Ag Society. He was a member of the Nebraska State Fair Board where he was superintendent of horses for three years during the State Fair. He was also honored as President of the Nebraska Association of State Fair Managers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sons, Mark Dale and Matthew John.
He is survived by his wife, Linda of Cozad; a daughter, Pam and husband, Greg Wolford of McCook; two sons, Todd of Ravenna and Jeff of Cozad; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad with the Rev. Terry Pool officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
