Eula Marion Vandegriffe, 77, died Thursday (May 18, 2006), at Rawlins County Hospital in Atwood after a long illness.
She was born May 20, 1928, in rural McDonald, Kan., to Dorsey and Ruth (Josepht) Johnson. She attended a country school through the eighth grade and graduated from McDonald Rurual High School in 1946. She spent her entire life in Rawlins County.
On June 25, 1947, she married George Vandegriffe of Owensville, Mo.
She was a homemaker and managed the salebarn for server years. In 1978, she and her husband became owners of the Buffalo Restaurant and later Vande's Cafe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Tom; and a great-grandson.
Survivors include her husband, George; son John and wife, Ivina of Owensville, Mo.; daughters, Janice and husband, Tim Knapp of Atwood, Pam Vandegriffe of Atwood, Penny and husband, Chip Cline of Colby; brothers, Ray and wife, Marlene Johnson of McDonald, Bob and wife, Helen Johnson of McDonald; sisters in law, Lois and husband Jack McKinney of Owensville, Fern Vandegriffe of Oregon City, Ore., Marcella and husband. Aubreu Haines of Springfield, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, at the United Methodist Church in Atwood, with the Rev. Terry McGuire officiating. Interment will be in the Atwood Fairveiw Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m., Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday at Williams Funeral Home.
