Martha Francis Nelson, 84, of Lexington, died Monday (May 1, 2006) at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington.

She was born to Charles W. and Mattie (Anderson) O'Neill on Oct. 19, 1921, on a farm near Hazard.

She married Glen Lawson in 1941.

In December of 1950, she married Howard Nelson, and moved with Howard and the four children to their new home in Maywood.

She served as a home mom and wife for 28 years before Howard passed away in 1978. She played an integral part in the Feed & Seed business, Nelson Produce, that Howard operated. After Howard's death, she lived in Grant, Gibbon and Maywood, before settling in Lexington.

Martha was a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington, for several years and also the VFW Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard; and brothers Bob and Charlie.

Martha is survived by her four children. Connie and husband, Lewis Shoff of Bridgeport, Jerry Lawson of Aurora, Tom and wife, Betty Lawson of Omaha, Denny and wife, Jackie Lawson of Sterling, Colo; a sister: Ellen Vohland of Gibbon; a sister-in-law, Dorothy O'Neill of Kearney; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; brothers Bob and Charlie; and parents, Charles W. and Mattie O'Neill.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington, with Father Paul Colling officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery at 2 p.m. in Kearney.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Visitation will be 5 t0 7 p.m., Thursday, Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Memorials may be given in her name to VFW Auxiliary or Lexington Grand Generation Center
