Earl James Danner, age 88, of Largo, Fla., died Friday April 28th, at his home, under Hospice care.
He was born in Roy, Mont. in 1918. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, William and Polly Sharp, in Trenton, after his mother died giving birth to his sister, Helen, when Earl was 13 months old. Helen (Sturdevant) pre-deceased him in January 2006. Earl graduated from Trenton High School in 1935.
He was very active in the Reformed Congregational Church in Trenton, being treasurer for 11 years. He was active in Trenton's Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and Elks. The American Legion there honored him for 60 years of service. Earl enjoyed his 25 years of retirement in Florida, playing golf for a number of years. He was active in the La Plaza Mobile Home Park in Largo, and past elder in the Faith United Church of Christ in Clearwater.
Earl enjoyed taking his family boating, fishing, hunting (mostly pheasants), and on summer vacations. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arazella. To this union were born their three surviving sons: Marc "Skee" and wife, Becky of Largo, Dee James and wife, Janet of Dublin, Va.; and Dixon Earl of Clearwater. He has four grandchildren; Dee's sons, Chad, and Cory, and Skee's children, Kimberly, and Sean.
