OBERLIN -- Gerald C. Diederich, 75, of Oberlin died Sunday (April 30, 2006), at his home in Oberlin.
He was born April 24, 1931 to Charles H. and Matilda (Harold) Diederich in Selden, Kan. He was raised on the family farm north of Selden and attended school at Green Valley, North Valley rural schools and Decatur Community High School.
On June 7, 1957, he married Caralee Brown in Oberlin. The family lived in Oberlin until 1965, then moved to McPherson until 1973, when they returned to Oberlin.
He worked as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his father; his wife, Caralee Diederich in 1995; and a grandson, Jesse Andrew Diederich.
Survivors include his mother, Matilda Diederich; five sons, Al and wife, Cristi of Tomball, Texas, Colin and wife, Alice of McPherson, Darren and wife, Stacey of McPherson, Ernie and Julie of McPherson, and Gene and wife, Angie of McPherson; two daughters, Bonnie and husband, Kennis Beck of Hesston, Kan., and Lesa and husband, Howard Cunningham of Hesston; four brothers, Merlin and wife, Lola of Fort Myers, Fla., Vernon and wife, Jeanette of Oberlin, Butch and wife Sandra of Oberlin and Leo of Dacona, Colo.; one sister, Lois and husband Johnny Jordan of Boulder, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Oberlin Cemetery with the Rev. Royce Leitner officiating.
Memorials are being accepted in her name to the Oberlin Hospice.
