HASTINGS -- Glenn E. Bosley, 96, of Hastings, died Monday ( April 24, 2006) at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 20, 1909, in Clifton, Colo., to Glen and Jessie (Rigg) Bosley. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1926.
On July 28, 1932, he married Helen Portenier in Concordia, Kan.
He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Hastings College in 1935. He was a teacher and school administrator for 45 years. He taught at school districts in Eckley, Mascot, Haigler, Lawrence, Palisade, Orleans, Hemingford, Callaway, Lodgepole, Dalton and Arthur. He received his masters of edcuation degree in 1953 from the University of Neraska - Lincoln and took librarian courses from the University of Utah. He also played semi-pro baseball as a catcher.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Nebraska Teachers Association and was treasurer for District 5. He was also a member of the National Teachers Association, Hastings Area Retired Teachers, and School Adminstration Association. He was a past member of Rotary International and Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gwendolyn Fleharty and Verda Isabel Shepherd; and one brother, Norman Bosley.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Bosley of Hastings; sons, Leslie and wife, Norma Bosley of Lincoln and Howard and wife, Phyllis Bosley of Great Bend, Kan.; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. William E. Deahl officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Guide Rock Cemetery.
Vistitation will be today until 9 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, one hour prior to service at the church.
Memorials may be given in his name to First United Methodist Church or Hastings Retired Teachers.
