Culbertson High School graduate led White team in tackles with nine

LINCOLN -- A 2003 graduate of Culbertson High School, Ben Eisenhart earned praise as the leading tackler in Saturday's University of Nebraska spring football game.

Eisenhart, who is the Cornhuskers' second team strong safety, led the white team with nine tackles, of which four were unassisted stops.

As the result of Eisenhart's impressive effort, he was shown in a full color photograph in Sunday's Grand Island Independent sports section.

In the photo, Eisenhart is pictured with Dontrell Moore, who is shown grabbing Cody Glenn's face mask.

Glenn was the leading ground-gainer for the Red team in the spring game with 98 yards on 16 carries.

In addition, Eisenhart was featured Wednesday night on KOLN and KGIN-TV of Lincoln and Grand Island.

He was identified as a leading tackler in the spring game and was the subject of a close-up interview.

Eisenhart is the son of Rusty and Annette Eisenhart of Culbertson.

He is the only Nebraska lettermen who comes from a school west of Grand Island.

In the 2005 season, Eisenhart played on the Huskers' kickoff and special teams.

He made 12 tackles -- eight were solos and four were assisted tackles.

In his senior year at Culbertson High School, Eisenhart was named the small school Football Player of the Year by the McCook Daily Gazette.

Eisenhart stands 5-feet-11 and weights 200 pounds.
