ATWOOD -- John Frank "Jack" Ruda, 70, died on his farm while tending cattle. His body was found Friday, March 24, 2006.

He was born July 25, 1935, on the family farm northwest of Atwood to John E. and Rose E. (Sis) Ruda.

He attended school at Pleasant Lawn No. 39 in the Driftwood Township and graduated from Atwood High School in 1953.

In 1948, the family moved their home from Driftwood Township to the Central Township, where he lived as a farmer and rancher.

In 1954, he and his father formed the Ruda and Son partnership, a cow and calf operation.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood and Catholic Workman (FCSLA).

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two brothers, Richard and wife, Mary Ruda of Lima, Ohio, and Tom of Atwood; and two sisters, Terri and husband, Lloyd Johnston of Kadoka, S.D., and Rose and husband, Tom Klenke of Spearville, Kan.

Services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. A private burial graveside service is planned at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in his name, to be designated at a later date.

Williams Funeral Home of Atwood is in charge of arrangements.
