ATWOOD -- Louis "Luke" Leonard Prochazka, 84, died Feb. 9, 2006 in Atwood.
He was born July 25, 1922 to Frank and Anna (Heble) Prochazka.
He graduated from Atwood High School in 1940 and entered the U.S. Navy for active duty in World War II. Upon completion of service he attended the University of Nebraska and Kansas State University.
In 1950, he married Veau Dell Franklon. The family returned to Atwood where they operated the family farm while Veau Dell taught in the Atwood school.
He coached basketball at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, served as committee member for the Knights of Columbus and helped with many free-throw contests. He was a member of the local school board and the Atwood Equity Coop Association Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Benjamin, Otto, Paul, Dan and Vincent; and sisters Helen and Beatrice.
He is survived by his wife, Veau Dell; son, Luke; brothers, Bernard and Frand; a sister Theresa; sisters-in-law Mary Prochazka and Irma Franklin; and three grandsons.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m., Saturday, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Atwood with the Rev. Roger Meitl officiating.
There will be no visitation. There was a cremation.
