"The UNK Indoor was a good opening meet for the girls," said McCook girls track coach Steve Clapp.

"The competition was excellent and we were able to compete with approximately one-third of our girls, many in their first high school track and field competition.

"Of our returning girls we had a number of good early season marks, as well as two personal record career marks in the shot put by seniors Allison Smith and Brittany Hagan.

"Of our returning athletes, nine of them had improved marks over this time one year ago.

"We also had a number of athletes competing for the first time at the UNK Indoor Meet and several were able to place in the 8-10 spots.

"It was a quality team effort and our coaching staff was generally please with our first effort of the year."

The Bison boys and girls have a scheduled dual at North Platte and host the LeRoy Hoehner Invitational Saturday.

Eustis-Farnam

Four Eustis-Farnam girls placed in six events at the UNK Indoor Meet in the Class D Division.

The Knight were led by second-place finishes by Jacey Schultheiss in the high jump (5 feet) and Teran Alderman (2:37.18).

Alderman was also fourth in the 400 (1:04.16) and Schultheiss was sixth in the 55 hurdles (10:45).

Katie Fagot was third in the mile run (6:21.57) and Kallie Craig was third in the 800 (2:38.5).

For the Knight boys, Derek Williams placed fifth in the high jump with a personal-best mark (5-10) and fifth in the triple jump (38-1 1/2).

"The kids competed hard in all of their events despite missed practice time due to inclement weather and other circumstances surrounding the Eustis-Farnam track program," said Knights' coach Elroy Pierce.

"The freshmen that competed were able to gain valuable meet experience and performed admirably.

"The few veterans that were not in Washington, D.C., provided solid leadership and ran and jumped well.

"Hopefully the weather holds out this week so we can continue to work on things to make improvements.

"Overall, coach Pierce and coach Brad Dunlap were very satisfied with the results Saturday."
