Due to bad weather, services for Bernice E. McManigal have been postponed until 11 a.m., Friday at the Brand Wilon Chapelin Hastings with Ken Ellis officiating. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in McCook. Book signing will also be postponed until Thursday, 9 a.m., to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

HASTINGS -- Bernice E. McManigal, 80, died Wednesday at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 29, 1925 to Dean Leroy and Cecil Gertrude (Graves) McManigal.

She attended rural elementary school near Stratton. She graduated from Hastings High School and received her bachelors degree in Spanish from Hastings College and also a degree in Elementary Education. She was the youngest person to ever enter Hastings College at the age of 15. She taught at a rural school, Longfellow School, then the Phillipines and before retiring she was a caregiver for several people.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Civil War Daughters, Who's Who at Hastings College, and the Hastings Saddle Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Don and Chuck McManigal.

She is survived by two sisters, Iris Sypherd and Glenda Pauley, both of Hastings and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may begiven to the Hastings College New Science Building Fund.
