Indians reach

state tournament

ELLIS, Kan. -- Hoxie squeezed by Rawlins County-Atwood's girls in the Kansas Class 2A sub-state basketball championship game at Ellis Saturday 46-34.

"We finished our season at 14-9, which was a good season -- however we were three games short of our season goal," said Rawlins County Coach John Terry.

"We're going to miss our 2 seniors, Chelsie Kramer and Bethany Holste next year -- they both had four very good years for us, however we have an excellent bunch of sophomores and juniors who looked very strong this year and got a lot of valuable playing experience for next year."

Danielle Pratt led the Indians to the win with 15 points. Rebecca Farber followed with 10 and Tiffany Goetz and Megan Ochs paired up with 8 points.

Chelsie Kramer was the top scorer for Rawlins County with 13 points. Teammates Bethany Holste and Megan Cahoj both posted 7 points.

Hoxie (19-4) advanced to the Kansas Class 2A girls state tournament.

The Nos. 1 and 2 seeds Belleville and Southwestern Heights are both 23-2.
