BEAVER CITY -- James Arthur Embrey, 81, died Friday (Feb. 24, 2006) at Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kan.

He was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Maywood to Charles and Addie (Cowman) Embrey. He graduated from Maywood High School in 1941.

He served in the U.S. Army in the South Philippines during World War II.

Following his discharge from the Army, he married Rosalie Ruth Perkins in Precept. The couple farmed in Edison until 1961, when they moved to Greeley, Colo.

He worked for the Public School District and General Hospital in Greeley. He lived in Texas after his wife's death in 1999 before moving to Beaver City.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City.

Survivors include a son, Bradley and wife, Linda Embrey of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Sue Sims of Beaver City and Anita Jean and husband, Bill Graves of Richland, Wash.; three sisters, Mildred Garner of Wellfleet, Dorothy Buss of Dickinson, N.D., and Margaret and husband, Bill Danbom of Curtis; special friend, Orel Kniep of Beaver City; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Greeley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City.
