OBERLIN -- Kenneth H. Rydquist, 81, died Saturday (Feb. 25, 2006) at the Decatur County Hospital.

He was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Decatur County. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1943.

He married Ellenette Anderson on April 12, 1949.

He owned Culligan Soft Water from 1949 until 1975 and was manager at KFNF radio.

He was a member of the Oberlin Covenant Church, Oberlin Lions Club, Oberlin Rotary and numerous boards and committees.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ellenette in 1999; brother, Norris; and sisters, Muriel and Rena.

Survivors include sons, Rick Rydquist of North Richland Hill, Texas, and Mick Rydquist and wife, Cooker of Kansas City, Kan.; sisters, Goldie Raulston of South Carolina, Eunice Dunn of Red Cloud and Neva Brown of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home with the Rev. Heidi Wiebi officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is today, until 8 p.m., and Tuesday, 8 a.m.

Memorials are being accepted in his name at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center, Decatur County Hospital or Evangelical Covenant Church.

Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin is in charge of arrangements.
