HAYES CENTER -- LeAnn Christy Johnson, 38, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, near Hayes Center, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

LeAnn was born Jan. 30, 1968, to Gilbert D. and Patricia A. (McKinley) Stasser, at Burlington, Colo. She graduated from high school in St. Francis in 1986 and attended the Northwest Kansas Area Vocational Tech School in Goodland, Kan., receiving a degree in electronics.

She married Jon Johnson in St. Francis on June 10, 1988, and to this union two children were born, Cody and Ashley.

She lived most of her adult life in Cloud and Jewell Counties in Kansas, where she worked at Trapper's Restaurant in Simpson, Kan. In February 2005, she moved to Hayes Center and worked as a desk clerk for Days Inn at McCook. She loved animals, collected wolf artifacts and was devoted to her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Patricia Stasser; maternal grandparents, Herbert and Lola McKinley; and paternal grandparents, Everett and Margaret Stasser.

Survivors include her daughter, Ashley, and son, Cody, of Independence, Kan.; brother, Larry Atkins and wife, Cathy of Edgemont, S.D.; sisters, Kathy Ellis of Jamestown, Kan., Paula Hebel and Sherri Peterson and husband, John of Fayetteville, N.C.; life partner, Mark Long of Hayes Center; numerous family; and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name for her children's trust fund in care of Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, PO Box 476, McCook, NE 69001.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, March 1, 2006, 10:30 a.m., at First Christian Church in St. Francis with Pastor Tony Christians officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis and Hot Springs, S.D.
