CULBERTSON -- Lloyd J. Ridgway died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at his home in Culbertson at the age of 79. He was born May 14, 1926, at Holyoke, Colo., the son of Ernest and Meta (Runge) Ridgway. He grew up around the Trenton area, where the family settled. He attended Trenton High School.

On Nov. 16, 1944, he entered the United States Army, serving during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Trenton where he received his GED.

In 1947, he married Joan Miller. She preceded him in death. On Aug. 5, 1969, Lloyd married Wilma Jane (Wilson) Cox, they spent their married lives in Culbertson, where Lloyd was a commercial carpet installer.

He was a jack-of-all-trades and could repair anything. He enjoyed gardening and tree trimming and had a great sense of humor. He was a member of the VFW in Culbertson.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Fern Gonzales, Maxine Wooley and Dorothy Hall.

Lloyd is survived by four daughters, Pamela Kowalek-Lavigne and husband, Kenneth of Auburn, Judy Snidow and husband, Marty of Harbor City, Calif., Jean Ann Benzel and husband, Steve of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Kathy Jones and husband, Jack of Union Bridge, Md.; one son, Gary Ridgway and wife, Loretta of North Platte; a brother, Earle Ridgway and wife, Genevieve of Loveland, Colo.; brothers-in-law, Arthur Hull of Englewood, Colo., and Ray Gonzales of McCook; sisters-in-law, Virginia Gohl of Culbertson, Marie Wilson of McCook and Emma Louise Wilson and husband, Wayne of Montrose, Colo.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, 11 a.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Rev. Richard Milano officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Culbertson Cemetery at Culbertson.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in Culbertson.
