SUTHERLAND -- Christine K. Emery, 101, died Sunday (Jan. 29, 2006) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
She was born on a farm northwest of Sutherland on July 19, 1904, to Charles and Anna (Krivohlavek) Bussemer. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1923. She received her teaching certificate from Kearney State College.
She married Wesley Emery in Hayes Center on Feb. 2, 1931. They moved to Sutherland in 1940.
She taught school, worked for Townsend Manufacturing and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Glenburnie Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Agnes and husband, John Kennedy, Frances and husband, Paul Naedler and Mary Bussemer; two brothers, Charles Bussemer and Fred and wife, Betty Bussemer; two sons-in-law, Paul Lopez and Bill Brott; and one nephew.
Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Lopez of Renton, Wash., and Donna Brott of Sutherland; four granddaughters; two grandsons; five great-grandsons; one niece; and special friend, Louise McCune of Sutherland.
Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Judy Gifford officiating. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, until 9 p.m., at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
Memorials are being accepted in her name at the Sutherland Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
