TRENTON -- Chloie Eva Steinke died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at the ElDorado Manor Home in Trenton at the age of 88.
She was born June 3, 1917, at Green Castle, Mo., the daughter of John Solomon and Nellie P. (Jeffries) Huff. She grew up at Green Castle, where she graduated from rural school.
On Nov. 28, 1935, Chloie married Delbert William Steinke and they farmed and operated a hatchery at Trenton until 1956. For two years, they operated a cafe at Trenton before moving to Oberlin where her husband was a parts manager until retiring in 1977. They moved to Palisade in 1978 and to ElDorado Manor in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert on Jan. 19, 2005; one son, Royce Steinke; a grandson, Kurt and his wife, Jeanie in January 1978; two brothers, Kermit Huff and John Huff; and sisters, Hazel Stites, Bernice Morton and Virgie Smith.
Chloie is survived by four grandchildren, Jeffrey Steinke and wife, Sherry of Hamlet, Kris Steinke of Tucson, Ariz., and Debra Brumgardt and husband, Rick and Rhonda Hilker and husband, Den, all of McCook; seven great-grandchildren, Cecilia Ellis of Page, Ariz., Marcie Fegley of Palisade, Nichole, Kyle and Cody Steinke of Hamlet and Haley and Amber Hilker of McCook; three great-great-grandchildren, Skyla Bird, Johnathan Fegley and Zita Ellis; one brother, Warren Huff and his wife, Wanda of San Diego, Calif.; and relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be Saturday, Jan. 14, 2005, 2 p.m., at the Trenton Cemetery in Trenton with the Rev. Marshall Erickson officiating.
