ATWOOD -- Richard H. "Dick" Bearly, 61, died Saturday (Jan. 7, 2006) at Infinia at Colby Inc. in Colby, Kan.
He was born March 4, 1944, to Richard Harrison "Bud" and Harriet (Haskell) Bearly in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1962. He attended Fort Hays State University and Wichita State University and received his bachelor's degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1968.
He worked as a probation and parole officer for the State of Washington before returning to Atwood, where he was employed as the gatekeeper for the Rawlins County Landfill.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Harriet.
Survivors include his father, Bud and Cherrie Smith; a brother, Craig and wife, Valerie of Atwood; nephews; great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will be in the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, until 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials are being accepted in his name.
