CAMBRIDGE -- Leo Joseph Kometscher, 89, died Saturday (Dec. 31, 2005) at the Cambridge Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1916, in Lawrence to Henry and Catherine (Kuppenbender) Kometscher. He attended school in Lawrence.
He married Mary C. Walz on Feb. 23, 1938.
He was a farmer and lived most of his life in the Indianola area.
He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary in 1960; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Kometscher of Indianola and Bob and wife, Loretta Kometscher of Commerce City, Colo.; a daughter, Darlene Lashley of Trenton; a brother, Martin Kometscher of Lincoln; three sisters, Mary Walz of Indianola, Frances Borgerding of Freeport, Minn., and Catherine Wolf of Clare City, Minn.; seven grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter, 13 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with the Rev. Paul Witt officiating. Interment will be in the St. Catherine's Cemetery.
Rosary will be Wednesday, 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until time of rosary, at the funeral home. Condolences can be left at www.carpenterbreland.com.
