SYRACUSE -- Gloria A. Wellman, 77, died Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2005) at her home in Syracuse.
She was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Otoe to Fred W. and Stella A. (Bond) Bock. She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1945.
She married Alvin C. Wellman on April 27, 1947, in Otoe.
She worked for Lincoln Telephone/Telegraph and was the social editor for the Syracuse Journal Democrat.
She as a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Massie Richards American Legion Auxiliary and the Laff-a-lot Club and was secretary of the St. John's UCC Women's Fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin "Shorty" Wellman; son, Larry "Buzz" Wellman; infant brother, Duane; and special friend, R.F. "Dick" Hile.
Survivors include son Kenneth A. Wellman and wife, Mary of Lincoln; sister, Colleen Witt and husband, Lee Delbert of Syracuse; daughter-in-law, Denise Wellman of Lincoln; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ in Syracuse with the Rev. John Finster officiating. Interment will be in the Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse.
Visitation will be today, until 9 p.m., at Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home in Syracuse. The family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The casket will be open for one hour before services at the church.
Memorials are being accepted in her name at St. John's Church of Christ in Syracuse or the American Cancer Society.
