OBERLIN -- Elmer L. Zodrow, 80, died Thursday (Dec. 22, 2005) at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Sheridan County to Leo J. Zodrow and Elizabeth Kamphaws Zodrow. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1943 and attended the University of Kansas.

He served in the Eighth Armored Division of the U.S. Army in World War II.

He worked for Decatur County and the City of Oberlin.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Frank Moeder Assembly and American Legion Post 70, all of Oberlin, and Herndon VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo J. and Elizabeth (Kamphaws) Zodrow; brother, Lawrence "Ozzie" Zodrow; and infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Zodrow.

Survivors include his sons, Clifford and wife, Debora Zodrow of Ozark, Ala., and Leonard "Lenny" and wife, Carolyn Zodrow of Max; daughters, Linda Zodrow Roy and husband, Terry of Rising City; brother, Gary and wife, Leola Zodrow of Oberlin; sisters, Cecilia and husband, George Brown of Oberlin and Virginia and husband, Laurel Almquist of Smith Center, Kan.; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Vigil service will be Monday, 7 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin. Visitation will be Monday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Tuesday, 8-9:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.
