OBERLIN -- Gordon Eugene Anderson, 79, died Thursday (Dec. 15, 2005) at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born Sept. 1, 1926, in rural Decatur County to Carl A. Anderson and Olga E. Olson. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Norma Joann Votapka on May 24, 1952, at the Oberlin United Methodist Church.

He farmed in Rawlins and Decatur counties and moved to Oberlin in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl A. and Olga E. Anderson, and a son, Dennis Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Anderson of Oberlin; a son, Lynn Anderson of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Carol Fink and husband, Robert of Wamego, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Gayle Anderson of Oberlin; brother, Elden Anderson and wife, Detta of Oberlin; sister, Gertrude Myers of Mansfield, Ohio; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Keith Reuther officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, 1-8 p.m., and Monday, 8 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday, 2-4 p.m.

Memorials are being accepted in his name at the Herndon Covenant Church and the Decatur County Fair Foundation Livestock Barn.
