WRAY, Colo. -- Marcella Jeanne (Colfer) Callahan, 88, died Nov. 11, 2005, at the Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colo.
She was born July 24, 1917, in McCook to Francis M. and Margaret H. Colfer. She grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook Junior College with an associate's degree in library science.
She married Joseph T. Callahan on Aug. 30, 1941, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. The couple moved to Wray in 1947.
She worked as an assistant librarian at the McCook Public Library.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society and the Las Veinte Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three siblings; and an infant granddaughter.
Survivors include her brother, the Rev. Robert L. Colfer of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Margaret Moss of Santa Rosa, Calif.; children, Maureen Opal and husband, Bruce of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Thomas J. Callahan and wife, Anne of Wray, Rosemary Callahan of Fort Collins, Colo., Kathleen Hammer and husband, George of Northglenn, Colo., Patricia O'Leary and husband, Thomas of Sheridan, Wyo., and Sally Chisel and husband, Jimmy of Denver, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorials are being accepted in her name at the St. Andrew's Catholic Church Building Fund or Hospice of the Plains.
Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home of Wray was in charge of arrangements.
