TRENTON -- John Joseph Colling, 76, formerly of rural McCook, died Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) at the ElDorado Manor in Trenton.

He was born April 9, 1929, at McCook to Bernard N. and Helen (Kennedy) Colling. He attended school through the eighth grade.

He entered the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1954.

He later returned the McCook area where he farmed and raised cattle.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harlan, Jerald, Frank and Gene; sister, Helen; three brothers-in-law Anton Blume, Raymond Ritter and Fred Martin; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Colling.

Survivors include his brothers, George Colling of Cambridge, Richard Colling and wife, Alfreda and Joseph and wife, Eileen Colling, all of McCook; sisters, Catherine Blume of McCook and Bernadine Ritter of Russell, Kan.; and sisters-in-law, Mary Colling of McCook and Dorothy Colling of Omaha.

Mass of Christian burial was today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with the Revs. Gary Brethour and Paul Colling officiating. Interment will in Calvary Cemetery.
