OBERLIN -- Rich Grafel, 57, died Thursday (Dec. 1, 2005) at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born Feb. 22, 1948, in McCook to Harlan Grafel and Norma Crocker. He graduated from Herndon Rural High School in 1966 and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan.
He married Connie Demmer on Aug. 25, 1966, in Herndon.
He was a farmer, rancher and manager of an elevator.
He was a member of the McCook Elks Lodge and served as Finnley Township Treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan Gravel in July.
Survivors include his mother, Norma Grafel of Herndon; sons, Dan and wife, Melinda Grafel and Greg and wife, Amanda Grafel, all of Oberlin; sister, Sheila and husband, Greg Marney of Rossville, Kan.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at the Gateway in Oberlin. Interment will be in the Traer Cemetery in Traer, Kan.
Visitation will be Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin.
Memorials are being accepted in his name at the Oberlin Fire Department, the Decatur Health Systems and the Leukemia Society.
