The McCook St. Patrick's girls defeated the McCook Home School Chiefs 22-14 Nov. 22.

"The St. Pat's girls played very well against these girls that played us very tough," said St. Pat's coach Jim Steinke.

Megan Carfield and Becky Goodenberger led St. Pat's with 6 points each, followed by Natalie Sis 4, Jessica Jankovits 3 and Gretchen Sehnert 3.

The Chiefs were paced by Jilanne German with 5 points, followed by Melissa Hall 3, Elizabeth Weidnert 2, Heather Faimon 2 and Jillian Epting 2.

"For our first game, it took two quarters to settle in and start making our shots count," Steinke said.

"They (the girls) played very well after that. First-game jitters plague everyone. We came through it very well. Both our offense and defense looked good."
