Winter blast

Monday, November 28, 2005

A McCook city loader clears snow in downtown McCook this morning, Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, after a blizzard rolled through the area, dumping about 6 inches of snow in .51 of an inch of moisture. Wind gusts as high as 68 mph accompanied the storm. The blizzard shut down schools and businesses, and local authorities took several hours to locate a woman stranded in her car south of town since last night. She had been in communication with police dispatchers via her cell phone, and sheriff's officials told her to stay in her car until she could be found. She cold but apparently uninjured in the incident, refusing to be taken to the hospital. (Connie Jo Discoe/McCook Daily Gazette)
