Cori Lynn DeVaughn, of McCook, and Travis Wade Hughes, of Elwood, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. Parents of the couple are Chet and Donna DeVaughn of McCook and Judy Frerichs of Elwood. Grandparents of the couple are Vern and Doris Wentling of Beaver City and Hazel DeVaughn of McCook. The bride-to-be is a graduate of McCook Community College and received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She is a substitute teacher. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Cowley Community College. He is a pitcher for Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals. The ceremony is planned for Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in McCook.
