Cambridge rolls past MVM

MAYWOOD -- Cambridge dominated Medicine Valley Maywood 56-20 in Friday night football action.

The Trojans took the lead in the first quarter with Lance Shifflet's 74 yard run and Anthony Hopkins' safety.

Waid Vontz ran 20 yards with Josh Keener making the kick. Vontz then passed to Anthony Lytle for 13 yards with Keener making the kick again.

Vontz had a five yard punt return off of a blocked punt.

Lytle scored with a 19 yard run with just 23 seconds left, with Keener making the kick to finish the first.

The Rattlers fought back with Chris Zysset scoring the only point for both teams in the second quarter with a two yard run.

Cambridge returned the challenge in the third with a five yard run from Shifflet and Keener kicking the point. Joe Warneke passed 25 yards to Jordan Wilcox and made the kick for the Rattlers with 5:46 left.

Lytle finished the third with a 81 yard kick return and a 60 yard run with Keener making the kick both times.

MVM scored the one and final point in the fourth with a 17 yard pass by Ben Wolfe to Ryan Hazen.

Palisade 32

WAUNETA -- Hitchcock Colunty spoiled Wauneta-Palisade's homecoming by downing the Broncos 48-32, in high school fooball play here Friday.

Tyrel Riggs led the winning Falcons in rushing with 73 yards one 18 carries.

Hitchcock County's leading receiver was Tyrell Riggs with four receptions for 47 yards, followed by David Paprocki with four catches for 45 yards.

John Thompson completed six of 16 passes for 68 yards to lead the Falcons in passing.

Josh Kerrshaw and John Thompson each had two interceptions for the Falcons., while Chancy Carlson recovered two fumbles.

Defensively for the Falcon, Carlson had 16 tackles, followed by Tyrell Riggs with 15.

"The defense created seven turnovers with a bloked punt, and two fumble returns for touchdowns," Hitchcock County coach Doug Newcomb said. "David Paprocki saved a TD by tackling a kickoff return on our one yard line the next play they fumbled and we scored."

Hitchcock County, now 5-2, will play at Crawford Friday with a 4 p.m. kickoff.

Wauneta-Palisade, 3-4, hosts Dundy County Friday.

ARAPAHOE -- The 7-0 Arapahoe Warriors added another win to their record Friday against Elwood.

The Warriors won 50-14. Tyler Hamel led the Warriors in rushing and four TDs.

Hamel started the first quarter with a 34 yard run point, a 17 yard run and a 27 yard run with Sebastian Edwards and Tony Braithwait making the extra points.

Ryan Stagemeyer led the Warriors in the second with a 44 yard interception return.

Braithwait then passed to Blake Maaske 50 yards with Hamel making the run.

Bennitez finished the second quarter running 29 yards for Elwood.

Hamel came back again in the third with a six yard run and Braithwait making the run.

Adam Snyder score with 2:26 left on a nine yard run.

Mahlberg scored for Elwood in the fourth with a 12 yard pass to Johnson and Bennitez making the extra point.

Bennitez led Elwood in rushing earning one TD.

IMPERIAL -- Chase County won over Kimball on Friday in a 54-0 victory.

The Longhorns shut out Kimball with Matt May and Brady Crider leading in rushing and defense.

The Longhorns had three interceptions with May returning one for 32 yards.

Scott Way had the second interception and Lance Milner had the third with a 55-yard return.

ATWOOD -- Rawlins County rolled over Leoti 28-9 in the first round of playoffs Friday.

The Buffaloes kept Leoti at bay until in the fourth.

Rodney Rippe ran 32 yards in the first and Jeff Riener ran the ball three yards. Rippe passed to Jordan Dunker for the two points.

Riener started the second with a 24 yard run and Ben Warta with a 24 yard run. Josiah Jones scored in the third with a two point safety.

Warta led the Buffaloes in carries with 20 carries for 149 yards. Rippe had four for 44 yards and Lowry had 10 for 53 yards.

Rawlins County travels to Syracuse next Friday night.

Hoxie 68,

Hill City 6

HOXIE -- Hoxie rolled to a 68-6 win over Hill City, Kan. in high schoool football action here Friday night.

The winning Indians gained 308 yards rushing and completed four of six passes for 157 yards.

The Ringnecks picked up 42 yards on the ground and were 3-for-13 through the air for 41 yards.

Pat Eland led Hoxie in rushing with 85 yards on two carries. Teammate Toliver Bird gained 62 yards on three attempts.

Hoxie's leading passer was Tyler Baker with four of six passes completed for 157 yards.
