OBERLIN -- Iris Vera Wurm, 88, died Monday (Oct. 10, 2005) at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1917, in Oberlin to Harry A. Fourtner and Mary Lou Pauley. She graduated from Decatur Community High School in Oberlin in 1935.
She married E.J. "Swede" Wurm on May 18, 1935, in Norton. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin, Lutheran Missionary League, Nimble Fingers Unit and 4-H.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Wurm; parents, Harry Fourtner and Mary Lou Fourtner Johnson; son, Robert Wurm in 2004; brother, Wayne Fourtner; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Mowry; great-grandson, Jessie Mowry; and stepsister, Faye Peck.
Survivors include sons, Dennis and wife, Pat Wurm of Oberlin and Steven and wife, Melissa Wurm of Dayton, Texas; daughters, Beverly Jo and husband, Eugene Witt of Danbury and Jeanette and husband, Vernon Diederich of Oberlin; daughter-in-law, Peggy Wurm of Eaton, Colo.; stepsister, Dora "Peggy" and husband, Dean Groneweg; 25 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rick Langness officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Friday, from 8 a..m. until the time of services, at the church. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday, 7-8 p.m.
Memorials are being accepted in her name at St. John's Lutheran Church or the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center.
