Cambridge volleyball team edges out Southern Valley

SOUTHERN VALLEY -- Cambridge and Southern Valley's volleyball teams faced off Tuesday with Cambridge taking the win.

Kymbre Lytle led the Trojans in points, while teammate Shelby Schultz led in kills. Bailey Soucie had 25 assists and Cristin Bruckman had nine digs.

Southern Valley's Hennessey Hogeland and Trisha Siebels tallied the points. Siebels also had two aces. Ashley Strickland and Jenae Perkins led in blocking along with Alyssa Steele.

Steele also had 22 assists and Perkins and Megan Becker led in attacks.

GOODLAND -- Decatur Community-Oberlin's volleyball team won against Rawlins County, Goodland and Brewster Tuesday.

"It was a good night of volleyball," said Oberlin Coach Pat Dorshorst. "We did a nice job of regrouping after losing senior setter Kaitlyn Stapp to a torn ACL."

Oberlin's JV team lost out to Rawlins County and Brewster but won two out of three against Goodland.

The ninth grade team won its matchups.

Emmie Pauls and Lauren Fortin shared serving duties. Fortin also led in setting, with Pauls and Lydia Karnopp both hitting.

Tricia Dorshorst partnered with Christa Hardy in passing. Karnopp, Heather Williams and Dorshorst blocked for the Red Devils .

fall to Maywood,

Sutherland

SUTHERLAND -- Medicine Valley's volleyball team fell short against Maywood and Sutherland Tuesday in the Sutherland Tourney.

"Maywood and Sutherland jumped out to early leads and we were never able to catch up," said Raiders Coach Ray Godtel.

The Raiders won the second game against Maywood to force another set. Liz Mortenson helped set and Christine Fisher gave the Raiders the lead.

Jessica Jorgenson led the Raiders in blocks and serves along with teammate Olivia Klein.

Whitney Schroader led in setting and Kellie Welch shared the hitting duties with Fisher.
