Arapahoe shuts down Knights

ARAPAHOE -- The Arapahoe Warriors rolled to a 46-0 victory over the Eustis-Farnam Knights in high school football action here Friday night.

Arapahoe is ranked No. 5 in Class D1 by the Omaha World Herald.

The game was called at the end of three quarters due to the 45-point rule.

The Warriors honored the death of senior fullback Sam Cookson, who died as the result of an automobile accident Tuesday night.

Tony Braitwait completed 13 of 18 passes for 177 yards to lead Arapahoe in passing.

The Warriors have now outscored their opponents 274-57.

Arapahoe, now 5-0, travels to Calloway Friday.

Eustis-Farnam, 2-3, hosts Maxwell for Parent's night Friday.

SOUTHWEST -- Southwest's Roughriders shined in homecoming glory against Medicine Valley-Maywood Friday.

Southwest won its homecoming game 45-0.

Brandon Malleck led the Roughriders with six carries for 174 yards and three touchdowns.

Ryan Timmerman had 16 carries for 111 yards and one touchdown.

Andrew Uerling and Neil Durner both had interception returns for TDs.

Southwest totaled 420 yards with 398 yards in rushing, 12 yards in passing.

Medicine Valley quarterback Joe Warneke completed 7-of-19 passes for 79 yards.

The Rattlers had 68 yards in rushing and 79 yards in passing totaling 147 yards.

CRAWFORD -- Wauneta-Palisade was dominated by Crawford 43-12 Friday night at Crawford and suffered their second loss of the season.

"Crawford played smash-mouth football," commented Coach Charles Isom. "They totally dominated the field."

Crawford's Ty Brown led the team in the first and second quarters with two touchdown runs.

Brown's teammates Clayton and Cameron Kolling also scored in the second pushing Crawford ahead 22-0.

Taylor Dixon led the Broncos in the third with TD runs of 55 and 65 yards, but Crawford's Clayton Kolling shut the door on the Broncos with a 41-yard run.

Clayton had a 58-yard run inthe fourth.

Oberlin 6

ATWOOD -- Rawlins County edged out Oberlin 14-6 Friday night.

Jordan Dunker had a 91 yard fumble recovery for the Buffaloes in the first.

Mitchell Lowry made a two-yard pass to Matt Migchelbrink in the first and a 2 yard run in the second.

Red Devil Denton Bailey scored in the second with a one yard run.

Rawlins County is now 2-3 and Oberlin is 3-2 for the season.

Blue Hill 22,

Southern Valley 15

BLUE HILL -- Blue Hill edged out Southern Valley 22-15 Friday.

Southern Valley started the first quarter with a 87 yard kickoff return from Jacob Becker.

Taylor Lueking kicked to extra point. The Bobcats returned with a 1:57 with Faimon running up the middle three yards.

The Bobcats scored another two points in the second on a safety. The Eagles pulled back ahead in the third with Terence Dake scoring on a fumble return.

Becker scored the extra point. The Bobcats finished the third with a 24 yard pass from Hubl to Fraser and a 3 yard run from Fraser up the middle and Faimon making the run.

LEYTON -- Hitchcock County came back against Leyton Friday 32-20.

"It was a good gut check after the tough loss in Hayes Center," said Coach Doug Newcomb.

"We responded well and I'm proud of our effort defensively and offensively. These kids never quit."

Chancy Carlson led Hitchcock County in the first with a 21 yard fumble return. Leyton came back with a 16 yard run by Smith and a 35 yard pass from Schumaker to Childers with Schmidt making the run.

Schumaker started the second quarter with a 15 yard run, but Hitchcock County's John Thompson passed 38 yards to David Paprocki to even the score.

Orin Riggs passed 44 yards to Paprocki with Tyrel Riggs making the run. Thompson passed another 46 yards to Paprocki to finish the third. Tyrel Riggs ran 12 yards in the fourth to finish the game.

Tyrel Riggs had 18 carries for 62 yards. Thompson had 8 out of 14 passes with Paprocki catching four passes for 165 yards.

Josh Kershaw had three catches for 34 yards. Tyrel and Orin Riggs both had fumble recoveries.

Sam Montoya had 14 tackles, Sam Matson had 12 and Wes Drain had 10.

St. Pats 31

NORTH PLATTE -- North Platte St. Pats edged out Cambridge, Friday in game that was ranked number 24 in the Top 30 games of the year by Huskerland Prep Report Magazine.

Cambridge was ranked number 8 and was 3-1, while North Platte was 4-0 and number two.

St. Pat's Blake Brown led out the game with a 53 yard field goal and a 31 yard touchdown.

Lance Shifflet had an eight yard run with 3:10 left in the first.

St. Pats fought back in the second with Jacob Brondl's one yard touchdown and Brown's four yard run in the third.

Anthony Lytle pushed ahead in the fourth with a one yard run. Lytle scored a nine yard run with just 42 seconds left in the game to move into overtime.

Shifflet had a 10 yard touchdown but North Platte pushed back with Brown's 5 yard run and extra point kick winning the game.

Shifflet led the Trojans in rushing for 115 yards. Maison Jackson followed with 78 yards. Waid Vontz led in passing going 8-15 for 105 yards

North Platte's Blake Brown led in rushing and passing.

GORDON -- Chase County underscored against Gordon-Rushville Friday.

Matthew May led the Longhorns in rushing with 138 yards.

Brock Stromberger was the defensive leader with 24 tackles.

Chase County is now 5-1 and ranked as number nine in C1.
