ARAPAHOE -- Leslie Samuel "Sam" Cookson, 18, died Tuesday (Sept. 27, 2005) at the Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, as the result of an auto accident.

He was born June 3, 1987, in Santa Rose, Calif., to Greg S. Cookson and Angela C. (Gerr) Hendricks. He attended school in Elwood and Arapahoe, where he was a senior in high school. He was a member of Arapahoe High School athletics and the United Methodist Church in Arapahoe.

Survivors include his father, Greg Cookson of Kearney; his mother, Angela Hendricks of Benedict, Kan.; brother, Wesley Cookson of Kearney; stepbrother, Keith Hendricks Jr. of Benedict, Kan.; half brother, Freeman Strickland of Denver, Colo.; and grandmothers, Virginia Cookson-Wroot and husband, Vance of Arapahoe and Mary Moon of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Michael Flury officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe.

Viewing and visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church. Condolences can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com.
