County signs on for grant

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

Red Willow County Commissioners signed documents authorizing the issuance of a $131,000 grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development -- Tourism Development Initiative for the "Hilton Farm Eco-Retreat" between Bartley and Cambridge.

Chris Miller, of Miller and Associates, explained the paperwork that needed to be signed and returned before grant funds can be released. Miller and Associates will act as administrator for the grant and will be paid $6,700. The grant budgeted $8,000 for administrative fees.

McNutt reiterated that the administration fees are contained within the grant budget, and do not come out of the county budget.

Dave and Andela Taylor, the owners of the land and farm that will become the eco-retreat, were approved for the grant in August. The project will be a tourism attraction that provides hands-on experiences focusing on nature, wellness, culinary arts, arts and crafts, horticulture and agriculture.
