CAMBRIDGE -- The 12th annual Tri Valley Medical Foundation Pro-Am took place at Cross Creek Golf Links Sept. 13.

Twenty-nine teams, 26 pros and many sponsors and volunteers helped to make the event a success.

The Edward Jones team of Ron Friehe, John Nothnagel, Ken Wellman and Fred Backer took a 2 on No. 11 to win a scorecard tiebreaker and the championship flight, with a score of 57.

The second-place team in the championship flight, with a score of 57, was the McCook National Bank team of Jamey Hansen, Dr. Dirk Gray, Dr. Rob Stamm and Tom Shields.

First flight winners were Coyote Country, with a score of 64, golfers were Alan Usher, Jesse Stevens, Kent Craw and Chris Hansen.

Coming in second, with a 65, in the first flight was the Drs. Jones and Cope team of Dr. Dean Cope, Dennis Feeken, Scott Hillius and Chuck Eubanks.

Omaha's Nate Lashley and Ryan Nietdfelt carded the top professional scores of 71 and 72, respectively.

The Million Dollar Hole-N-One qualifying event on Monday night was a closest to pin contest shot from 165 yards with Randy Heitmann coming in closest with a shot of 3 feet, 9 inches.

The qualifier from the raffle Tuesday morning was Bill Shoemaker.

Although the shots from the tee box were excellent, neither of the golfers succeeded in sinking a hole-in-one to win the million dollars.

Four rounds of golf and the use of two carts were donated by "Golf the West" Golf Courses and The Pines at Valley.

Leroy Hayes won the rounds at Wild Horse in Gothenburg, Tim Olson at Cross Creek in Cambridge, Doug Harsh at Heritage Hills in McCook, Ron Friehe at Bayside in Ogallala and Leland Shiers at The Pines Country Club in Valley.

Closest to the pin on hole 16 was won by Mike Smith.

The Hole-N-One prizes, sponsored by Faw Motor Company, included on hole 3, a four-day and three-night vacation at the Westin Rio Mar Beach Golf Resort and Spa; on hole 7, a GMAC two-year smart care by GMAC Maintenance Products and a Nike Ignite driver; on hole 14, 36 dozen Power Distance Nike golf balls; and on hole 16, a 2006 Chevrolet HHR. None of these prizes were claimed.

Auctioneer Col. Gary Joseph took bids on an original oil of Cross Creek Hole No. 14, painted by artist Mushi Mues of Studio 38 in Holbrook.

The highest bid went to Danny Sexton. A pair of NFL tickets to the Broncos at Chiefs game in Kansas City, Mo., were donated by Mike Eberle.

More than $12,000 was raised at the tournament by the Tri Valley Medical Foundation.

"Proceeds will benefit our continued mission to support the work of Tri Valley Health System," Foundation Director Beth Siegfried said.

"We could not have a successful event without the cooperation of Cross Creek Golf Links and the many sponsors, volunteers, amateurs and professionals."
