PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- Mary Ann Casford, 69, died Sunday (Sept. 4, 2005) at her home in Palm Springs.
She was born Nov. 22, 1935, to Eino and Anna (Oja) Martila in Mount Iron, Minn. She graduated from Mount Iron High School in 1953. She graduated from Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn., in 1956 and Pacific Christian College in Fullerton, Calif., in 1978.
She married Glen J. Casford on Nov. 14, 1957, in McCook. She worked as a nurse at St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook. In 1969, she moved to Palm Springs and worked as a nurse at Desert Hospital for 13 years. She worked as a nursing administrator at JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, Calif., until her retirement in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and parents-in-law, Glenn W. and Cleo (Macy) Casford.
Survivors include one sister, Janice O'Leary and husband, Dennis of Burnsville, Minn.; one niece, Erin O'Leary of Minneapolis Minn.; and many cousins.
Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Wiefels and Son Chapel in Palm Springs. Burial will be in McCook at a later date.
Memorials are being accepted in her name at the AIDS Foundation, the Salvation Army's hurricane relief or the charity of the donor's choice.
