Rodney Ray Scott, 63, died Sunday (Aug. 28, 2005) at Community Hospital of McCook.

He was born Aug. 29, 1941, to Wallace Dow and Alice France (Balius) Scott in McCook. He attended McCook and Oberlin schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until his retirement in 1981, serving during the Vietnam War.

He married Darlene J. Baker in Jacksonville, Fla., on Aug. 7, 1972. They lived in McCook since July 4, 1980.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Eagles and the U.S. Navy Retired Cooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert on Aug. 13, 2005.

Survivors include his wife Darlene of McCook; a son, Roger Baker of Sidney; two daughters, Courtney Scott of McCook and Sherri Day and husband, Tim of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Richard Scott and wife, Rose of McCook and Larry Scott and wife, Sherri of Kimberling City, Mo.; a sister, Donna Scott and special friend Kathy Savage of Munjor, Kan.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Rosary will be today, 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel.

Visitation is today, until 8 p.m., and Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until the time of rosary.
