Vice President and General Manager Alan Usher has announced that an ownership and management agreement has been reached to operate two radio stations in Southwest Nebraska.

Radio stations "Coyote Country" 105.3 KIOD FM and 93.9 "The Prairie" KSWN FM will join the group's five radio stations to expand broadcast services to Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.

"The addition of KIOD FM and KSWN FM furthercompliment our ability to reach new listeners and better serve business and ag interests," Usher said.

KIOD and KSWN in McCook join KRGI-AM, KRGI-FM, Star 97.3, KMMJ-AM in Grand Island and KIMB-AM in Kimball to create a seven-radio station broadcast network in Nebraska. KIOD and KSWN have been owned and operated by Austin McCook LLC and Jay and Eileen Austin for almost 10 years. The stations broadcast University of Nebraska sports, local news, sports and weather, ag information and community-based talk programs including country music entertainment.

Jay and Eileen Austin said that after putting in nearly 10 years of hard work, they are pleased to place the radio stations in the hands of good stewards who will remain dedicated to providing outstanding service to listeners and advertisers in Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.

GI Family Radio is owned by 30-year broadcaster Jay Vavricek. Vavricek said "We have great confidence in Nebraska's agriculture and business development and we're looking forward to being an active member in the McCook community."

The two McCook stations will operate as "McCook Family Radio."
