GREELEY, Colo. -- Robert G. Quick, 79, died Saturday (Aug. 13, 2005) at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo.
He was born Oct. 17, 1925, to Merritt and Gertrude (Griffith) Quick at the family home in Quick. He graduated high school in Curtis in 1942 and received an associate's degree in business from McCook Junior College.
He married Gwendolyn Drake on Aug. 12, 1948, in McCook. The couple made their home on a farm in Frontier County.
In 1961, the family moved to Fort Morgan, Colo., where they owned and operated the El Rancho Motel. In 1966, they moved to Greeley, Colo., where they established a family clothing store inside a shopping center. They then opened a gift shop inside the same shopping center. In 1975, he started purchasing property and began custom home development. From 1977 to 1984, they owned and operated a hardware store in Eaton, Colo. The couple took a six-year retirement before spending 10 years on a farm east of Greeley, Colo. In 2000, the farm was sold and the couple moved back to Greeley, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Nathan Quick, and two brothers, Aaron and Clifford.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen Quick of Greeley, Colo.; three sons, Raymond and wife, Philana of London, England, Ron and wife, Elizabeth of Roundup, Mont., and Roger and wife, Susan of Greeley, Colo.; two daughters, Shirlee of Napa Valley, Calif., and Susan Clearly and husband, James of Mandeville, La.; a sister, Evelyn Hanson of Sutherland; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Greeley, Colo.
Memorials are being accepted in his name at the charity of the donor's choice.
